This small limestone quay, located 50 kilometers south of the main island of Cuba, possesses spectacular white sand beaches and is rated as one of the world’s top diving sites. The property covers an area of approximately 30 hectares in size and approximately two kilometers of the world’s most beautiful beach. A Phase One joint-venture is proposed that would involve the construction of a US$55 million, 380-room, all-inclusive five-star hotel. Sol Melia would manage the property under their most prestigious brand, Paradisus.

The island is equipped with an international airport capable of handling 747's. The flight time to Havana is 30 minutes.

There are currently three quality hotels on the island, the 236 room Sol Cayo Largo; the 307 room Sol Pelicano; and the newer 306 room Barcello. All offer excellent accommodation, but none will match the quality envisioned for the Cayo Largo Melia Paradisus. There are also four relatively small 3-star properties on the island, which will not be direct competitors.
